Come to the library and pick up a Terrarium Kit. Add whatever you want from home to create your own small fantasy garden in a bowl. Terrarium Kits will be available July 20- July 25.

Build a Gnome Home for your back yard, or if you prefer, place it on the library property. Come to the library and ask fora Gnome Home Craft. In it you will find items that can be used to supplement what you have at home to build your Fairy House. Build a House of Cards
Test your engineering skills and the steadiness of your hands by building a house of cards. Send a picture to: (Staatssummerread@gmail.com) and your name will be entered into a drawing for a Dairy Queen Gift card.

This is a STEM challenge for little ones. Come to the library and request your Humpty Dumpty Craft. You will receive a plastic egg and all the pieces you need to make Humpty. Then go home and build a wall out of blocks or LEGOs that Humpty can sit on. Measure how tall the wall is and if you like send a picture to: Staatssummerread@gmail.com

Help us create a Dragon for the library gazebo. Come to the library and pick up your Dragon Craft , then take it home to complete. Bring it back to the library by July 11, and we will use it to create a hanging dragon. Also make a dragon puppet to keep. While you are at the library have fun hunting for the dragons eggs that are hidden on the library property. There are 5 for you to find. Happy hunting! This craft will be available from June 29 through July 10.

Fairy Tale Trivia Quiz: Print it from our web page (staatslibrary.org) We will post the answers on our website on July 27. Then take a stroll to Norrie Point Environmental center and see if you can find the pictures of 8 fairy tale villains hidden around the outside of the building. This Trivia sheet will be available from July 20 - July 27
Mystical Beast Cup Cake Wars
You will have one week from July 13 -July 20 to bake and create your Mystical Beast Cup Cake.
To participate,send email to staatslibyouth@gmail.com. You will then be sent an invitation to a Zoom meeting On Monday evening July 20 at 7 pm. Where participants will show off their cupcakes. Everyone who participates will be entered into a drawing for a box of Little Utters, ice cream cupcakes, from Holy Cow Ice Cream.
Print out the Harry Potter Trivia sheet on our website. It will be posted the week of July 13. Once you complete the trivia sheet you may submit it at the library. Anyone who answers the questions correctly will be entered into a drawing for the paper mache Sorting Hat. See the photo on the web site. All participants can come to the library and ask for the Wizard Wand Craft.This craft will be available from July 13 - July 18.

Photo Scavenger Hunt: June 29 – July 11
1. Take Photos that fit into the following 4 themes:
Theme #1: I Can’t Believe I Ft In Here
Theme#2: I Am Lost
Theme#3: Because I’m Happy
Theme#4: Bored Out of My Mind
2. To participate,send email to staatslibyouth@gmail.com and you will be sent a link where you can place your photos into a Google Drive Folder specific to each theme.
3. On Monday July 13th at 7 pm there will be a Zoom Meeting to Review the photos. A zoom invitation will be sent to all participants.
Use your creativity and have some fun! You can incorporate family members and pets into your pictures. All participants’ names will go into a drawing for a $25 gift card. All photos must be submitted by July 11th.

For this event you must follow the clues hidden on the grounds of Saint Margaret's Church (across from the library). Find and decode the hidden message. If you complete this mission and successfully decode the message, your name will be put in a drawing for a free gift card to Holy Cow Ice Cream. Send the decoded secrete message to Staatssummerread@gmail.com to be entered into the drawing for the prize.

Using only index cards or other comparable cards to create a tower that can balance and hold a hard covered book. Hint: you may need to change the shape of your cards by folding or bending them. Sent us a picture to Staatssummerread@gmail.com
This STEM challenge is designed for children entering kindergarten through 3rd grade in the fall of 2020.
Construct a sturdy bridge out of LEGO's or other blocks that spans the width of 10 inches.
Now see how strong your bridge is: how many books can it support. If it collapses think of how you can rebuild it and make it stronger. When you are happy with your bridge you can send us a picture or tell us how many books it held. Send it to: Staatssummerread@gmail.com Happy building!
First, build a tower from whatever supplies you have at home, perhaps a paper towel roll. Decorate the tower if you like. Now think of ways Rapunzel could get down from that tower without getting hurt. Then plan out and create your escape plan.
